In a statement made through its radio station and website on Sunday, Al Shabaab denied any involvement in the theft of IEBC BVR kits during the Thursday raid of an AP Camp by its Mujahideen Gunmen.
Local reports indicate that the militia based in Somalia told the Government to come clean on the theft of the BVR kits rather than heaping the blame on the terror group.
BVR(Biometric Voter Registration) kits are used by IEBC in capturing the Biometric data of voters.
Mr Oronyi and Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery had confirmed Al-Shabaab’s statement that all 21 police officers who were present during the attack fled and were not injured.
“The police officers took cover and the attackers made away with their personal belongings,” said Mr Oronyi.
This statement could be the beginning of a new era, the opening of a Pandora’s box we all expected would remain shut.
