Students of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology today woke up to a gloomy day after news of the death of one of their comrades circulated around Campus.
Vallary Apondi, a 3rd Year Logistics student was found dead at JJ Guest house having sustained multiple cuts from a sharp object (which in this case turned out to be a machete she and her hubby had bought together). The chief suspect, her other half, Mr. Collins Oluoch Ogweno was arrested and taken to Bondo Police station following the incident.
Mr. Collins Oluoch, a resident of Migori and a nurse at Nightingale Kisumu had been dating the victim for three years and even had a child with her. While a lot remains in the dark, rumor is that he committed the crime upon finding out that she had an affair with another individual.
A screenshot of his alleged WhatsApp status circulating around Social media states: “RIP my wife as I rest in Jail for the rest of my life…” beneath a collage of the young family’s photo- which shows a handsome baby boy in blue socks in between the two lover’s photos.
The late Ms. Vallary is said to have been murdered in between 4 and 5 AM in the morning. Eye witnesses say that Mr. Oluoch wanted to commit suicide after the incident.
Speaking to our reporters at the scene of crime, the OCS Bondo urged students and residents to remain calm while contending that he and the county commissioner had no power to shut down bars if NEMA allowed them to “play beyond the regulated time”. This was followed by complaints from students over insecurity which has seen a sharp spike in theft around the campus environs.
We at Kampozone send our condolences to the friends and family of the deceased. May her soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
